Il fait beau...et froid...et beau...et froid....

Today my academic program was meeting on the Seine to take a ride on the "Bateaux-Mouche," which is a tour boat. We weren't meeting until 2:30pm, but it was a beautiful day and I decided to leave early and go sit on the Seine and read my book.

I took a seat on the Pont Neuf (translation: New Bridge, which it was when it was the first bridge built in Paris. Now, of course, it's the oldest bridge in the city). I was getting warm in my jacket and scarf when all of the sudden I saw BIG PURPLE CLOUDS starting to roll over my head. I sat there a little bit longer as it got colder and colder and darker and darker. Then, of course, it began to rain. And just when I took out my (smartly packed) umbrella, the wind picked up so that my umbrella was more of a prop than a tool. Luckily, the rain didn't last long. But I spent the next hour waiting out the cold until I got the boat where it was even colder. So much for my beautiful day on the Seine.

If this is technically still summer in Paris, I am not looking forward to winter...
